Maxithlon is online on the new server
| (18:00 25-06-2026) |
| This morning, 25 June 2026, at around 8:00 UTC+2, meaning the time zone of Rome, Paris and Berlin, we experienced a technical issue during some database backup/restore operations on the old machine. The migration of Maxithlon to a new server was already planned, but it was not scheduled for today. However, the issue forced us to speed up the move to the new infrastructure. After several hours of work, checks and fixes, we managed to bring Maxithlon back online and fully operational on the new server, which now becomes the new home of the game after more than 8 years on the previous machine. The most important thing: there has been no data loss. All game data has been preserved. A new technical foundation for Maxithlon With this migration, Maxithlon has not simply been moved to a new server. The game is now running on a fully updated machine, with a new technical stack based on Apache, MySQL and PHP, aligned with 2026 standards. This is an important step: Maxithlon is leaving behind a platform that supported us for more than eight years and is moving to a more modern, updated environment, better suited to supporting the game in the years ahead. Time zone note All times mentioned in this communication are expressed in UTC+2, the time zone currently in use in Rome, Paris and Berlin. Market intervention The technical issue also affected the transfer market, particularly auctions expiring or scheduled during the period impacted by the service disruption. To handle the situation in the most orderly and fair way possible, we recalculated the auction deadlines by including in the recovery schedule all auctions planned up to 20:00 UTC+2 on 26 June 2026. In total, the intervention involved 281 auctions, which have been rescheduled with a new deadline. In the time window checked by the script, there were no completed transfers requiring cancellation, so no rollback of completed transfers was necessary. The new schedule starts at 8:00 UTC+2 on 26 June 2026. From there, auctions are distributed at regular 3-minute intervals: 8:00, 8:03, 8:06, 8:09, 8:12, and so on. This allows us to recover the time lost during the downtime without concentrating too many deadlines in the same minute and without creating a new artificial accumulation of auctions. For auctions already scheduled later in the day on 26 June, the system avoids bringing their original deadline forward: in these cases, the auction keeps at least its original scheduled time, with the progressive recovery slot added on top. In other words, no auction is moved earlier than its original deadline. We know this disruption may have caused inconvenience, especially for those who were following the market during those hours. We apologise for the issue and thank you for your patience: the move to the new server is nevertheless an important step towards giving Maxithlon a more solid, modern and stable technical foundation for the years ahead. |
